About

A small operation, one pool, twelve documents a month.

SwimScript is built by spinrag, LLC, an independent software company registered in New York. It is not a startup with a runway and it does not have a sales team.

Why it exists

A masters coach had been writing his practices in Word for years — swim shorthand, section headings underlined, the yardage totalled by hand and tabbed across to the right margin, the whole thing printed on one page and taped to the whiteboard. The format worked. What did not work was the arithmetic: change one interval or one repeat count and every total below it is wrong until somebody re-adds the column.

So SwimScript does the adding. It was written against twelve of his real practices rather than against an idea of what a practice looks like, and where his notation disagreed with what would have been convenient to parse, his notation won. That is why the parser copes with a bracket that opens an instruction and never closes it: across those twelve documents there are 48 unclosed parentheses to 107 closed ones, because in his hand ( introduces a note rather than enclosing one.

Who it is for

Coaches, first — the shorthand and the printed sheet are built around how a coach works on a pool deck. Swimmers write their own sets too, and nothing about the tool assumes a whistle.

One masters team is the whole of the audience. There is no customer list on this page, no logos, no number of coaches and no testimonials, because there is nothing to put in them — a first version of a tool built for one pool is exactly what this is. If it turns out to be useful to you as well, that is a good reason to open it. It is not evidence that anyone else already has.

What we do not do

  • No marketing email. SwimScript sends transactional mail only — sign-in, the account-deletion notice the privacy policy commits to, and material changes to the legal pages. There is no newsletter and no signup form anywhere on this site, which is why you will not find one to look for.
  • No tracking. This site sets no cookies, loads no third-party scripts, embeds no fonts from anyone else's server and measures nothing. The application's privacy policy makes specific claims about what is collected, and an analytics tag over here would quietly make some of them false.
  • No pricing, yet. It has not been decided. Publishing a number nobody has agreed to would be worse than saying so.

Getting hold of us

[email protected] — for questions about the product, about a practice that did not parse, or about anything on the privacy policy or the terms. It is a real address and it is the only one. If you need a postal address, for a formal notice or because your own obligations require one, ask and we will provide it.

Where things live

This site is swimscript.com. The application is at app.swimscript.com, which is a separate deployment with its own database and its own sign-in. Your practices are there; nothing you write is ever held on this host, because this host holds nothing.
